After re-discovering my passion for landscaping after almost twenty years, it was a new lease on life with the development of OI and becoming a dad, it was a tough juggle to begin. It’s now been three of my most rewarding and accomplished years, however not without its challenges, and the reason for that is purely the change in the modern landscaping arena and client expectations.
The creativity and passion within the landscaping industry is an absolute joy to be involved with and work within each day. From the creative designs to clever use of properly researched materials right down to the planting and detailing which surpasses the old brick edge and buxes hedge.
Its always been an Australian way of life and landscaping really tips its hat to this with the construction of outdoor rooms, lavish pool areas and surrounds to the most tranquil gardens to kick back and enjoy the investment.
The last 10 years has seen some major changes to the way the landscape industry operates and performs, we’re not only providing a trade these days, but also a business and client service. We’re becoming more and more involved with the process to push the boundaries, these trends are evolving due to social media platforms, new and improved material choices and design aspects and the time factor that faces most people in our fast-paced way of life.
With social media playing a big part in showcasing work and presenting a style of company, I find it is a great resource for potential clients to view and source inspiration from. It also supports a client when they’re looking for a landscape company, making sure that company is the right fit for them and the style of work is consistent with their ideas. This was never an option when I first began landscaping 20 years ago, and I believe it’s playing a huge role in being able to diversify your skills, quality and tradesmanship.
This evolution of landscaping has now become such an in-depth process that it really is a joint collaboration between the design team and client. The onsite consultation plays such in important role which sets the pathway for gaining all the adequate build information. With a clear vision, a signature one off design, capitulating all the elements to construct a sustainable and versatile out door space, gives the construction team the opportunity to see a client’s dream come to life.
